WHO WANTS TO BE KING?

Greetings and Welcome to the WHO WANT TO BE KING?  

Is this a crazy question or what.   Well, that question is exactly what this entire website is all about.   Yes, I do realize that everyone wants to be a king or queen.   But,,,,, king or queen of what is the hook here. 

No, I am not going to hold you in suspense.    But, I will admit I am tempted.

The question that I am asking here is a really big one when you consider the scale of things.   I am asking WHO WANTS TO BE KING OF THE INTERNET?  Yes, I most certainly did tell you it was a really big question.   Given the scale of the GIANTS that exist on the internet today.     

Alphabet, aka Google

Amazon

AT&T

Apple

Disney

Meta, aka Facebook

Microsoft

Netflix

Oracle

Samsung

Snap, aka Snapchat

Softbank

T Mobile

Verizon

Yahoo! 

You might say that those corporations I have listed are all ready the Kings of the Internet.   Well, yes, they are Kings in the kingdoms of the domains they have created.   But, none are the true KING OF THE INTERNET.   Some are very close, that I must admit.  But, each and everyone listed, dreams of wearing the crown.   If only they could.

Well, the only thing that stands in the way of one of those on the list from becoming KING OF THE INTERNET is technology.  

Technology to rule the internet comes in many shapes.  Today Bytedance, aka TIK TOK rules the internet landscape.     Zhang Yiming is a Chinese internet entrepreneur.  He founded ByteDance in 2012 and he is kicking butt.   And many are doing their best to either copy or imitate BYTEDANCE to replicate its success.

BYTEDANCE, aka TIK TOK, is pure technology, the HOLY GRAIL of all tech in fact.   I admire Zhang's genius.   I have not seen anything so addicting since Facebook.   And before Facebook, there was Yahoo!.   

I can remember the days of dial-up connections when parents suddenly were going crazy when the monthly landline telephone bill arrived and suddenly discovered their monthly phone bill skyrocketed from $30.00 to $300.00, or higher, much, much more higher.   The kids were surfing the web on Yahoo! and the service provider thru who their dial-up connection was being provided was long-distance.   I still remember the horror stories.    

I can't fault  Zhang's  TIKTOK effort, as I rather admire his furthering the technological  progression.   And his timing to introduce TIK TOK could not have been better. 

But there is a downside to TIK TOK, that being the onslaught of the ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE that has broken out around the globe.    Yes, I am being a little catty.   

I have watched kids and adults alike turn into SCREEN SCROLLING ZOMBIES watching TIK TOK videos.   And when you try to break the spell and take their device away from them breaking the connection with the mothership, they become a foul subhuman creatures that are truly unrecognizable.

How does one compete with 60 - 120 dopamine (constant stream) hits per hour that individuals can receive watching TIK TOK videos.    I am sure it is a massive habit to break once that monkeys climbs on your back.  

I promise I will only watch 5 TIKK TOKS, then 5 becomes 10, then 10 becomes 20, etc., etc.   Suddenly, the sun is dawning and the addict collapses from sheer exhaustion and sleeps half the day away.   I have seen it happen.

And then there is the concern over the data that Bytedance collects.  I personally have not read their terms of service.   And in truth I am not a lawyer so I shall not try to impress you with expertise that I do not possess.    But, the reason I have not read their terms of service is because I have heard from others about their terms of service.   So I choose to avoid any contact with their website or apps.

AI, BIG DATA, MACHINE LEARNING in combination is TIK TOK.    You may be wondering about what my opinion is about AI, BIG DATA, and MACHINE LEARNING?  Well, I am older than most and I did my language homework by chiseling hieroglyphics into a stone tablet.   And, my  math calculations was with an abacus.   Just joking of course.   I used pencil, paper, and a slide rule.   

Which by today's standard is archaic.   Or is it?

AI, BIG DATA and MACHINE LEARNING are here to stay and the standard today.   I see no way that is going to change, so we will need to learn to live with it.
